Short speech (ES) by Eva Fernández Mateo on her participation in the Synod (27 October 2023)

(transcript video text) Hello everyone, I hope you are doing a good job, that you are already practising synodality, walking together, so that all the activities you are planning, all the work you are doing, bears much fruit and we can show God’s love and mercy in our world. Well, the synod experience is precious, we are already on the last day, almost, and the truth is that it is a gift this experience of dialogue, of deep listening, to perceive that the Holy Spirit is present among us and that He is helping us to begin, indeed to continue this journey that we started two years ago. It is a gift to share with bishops, with cardinals, with other priests, with consecrated life as equals, with the same hopes, the same expectations. Yes, we found some points of tension, but with love and respect, we sought how to continue to deepen these issues.

For me, the moments of prayer shared with other people who are in a situation of war in their countries were also very significant, being able to share their pain, to be at their side, makes the universality of our Church much more present. We have a road to travel and I hope we will travel it together. I have discovered in these days the great love, the deep affection and the great concern that our cardinals and our bishops have so that together we can show the Lord and build his kingdom in the world. We will all continue to share and I hope to see you soon. Greetings .
