As every year, we invite the CAs in the world to celebrate the World Day of Prayer and Reflection against Trafficking promoted by Pope Francis.
We ask you to send documentation of your activities, to be shared on social media and on the IFCA website.
Dear Participants to the International Day of Prayer and Reflection against Trafficking in Persons,
Thank you for joining us. We invite you to participate in the online marathon of prayer and reflection on Tuesday 8th February 2022, the day of the liturgical memory of St Bakhita, the Sudanese nun who as a child had the dramatic experience of being kidnapped and enslaved. Saint Bakhita became the universal symbol of the commitment of the Catholic Church against trafficking.
The theme chosen for this eighth edition is: “The power of care. Women, economy, human trafficking”.
The marathon will start at 9.00 a.m. (CET) and finish at 5.00 p.m. (CET). It will be eight hours with prayers and testimonies from different parts of the world of people engaged in against trafficking. Pope Francis, who motivated the celebration of this day in 2015, will participate in the marathon sending his message. The marathon will be broadcast online in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
In the coming weeks, we will send you details of the programme and links to the live broadcasts. In the meantime, we will share with you some useful materials for promoting the participation to the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking, and we ask you to help us involving as many people as possible.
We prepared a folder with these materials:
– the presentation of the theme
– the text of the vigil of prayer
– the graphics to be used on your websites, blogs, social channels, newsletters to invite people to join the online marathon and other events planned around February 8th.
We ask you to post the invitation to participate in the marathon and other events on your social channels, in your newsletters, magazines, and websites.
On the 8th of February, we promote a tweetstorm, for which a more detailed communication will follow.
The hashtag to use is #PrayAgainstTrafficking.
If you are in Rome we invite you to join us on Sunday 6 February 2022 in St Peter’s Square for the Angelus prayer with Pope Francis. We will be in St. Peter’s Square at 11.30 a.m., respecting the anti – covid measures.
We know that some groups and associations are organizing activities of reflection and prayer in their communities. We ask all these groups to provide us with information on what they are organizing (time, place, a brief description of the programme) so that we can compile a list of the meetings, events and moments of prayer organized for the day. This list will be included in the report on the Day that we will give to Pope Francis.
If you send us photos or short videos we will post them on the social media of the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. We ask you to send all the requested material to the email address: preghieracontrotratta@gmail.com
Before concluding this message, we remind you that we are constantly updating the website https://preghieracontrotratta.org/?lang=it (available in five languages).
