“The Lord, the Church, the world are waiting for your answer to the unique call that each one receives in this life!  As World Youth Day in Panama draws closer, I invite you to prepare yourselves for our gathering with the joy and enthusiasm of those who wish to participate in such a great adventure.  WYD is for the courageous!  Not for young people who are searching only for comfort and who withdraw whenever difficulties arise.  Do you accept the challenge? (World Youth Day, n. 4)

Jesus becomes solidary with the hopes and needs of those who await a novelty and puts himself in the ranks of those who seek change. As a penitent more, he who is the novelty of God assumes the human condition in the appearance of the sinner and becomes silently sympathetic to the need for change of a humanity distorted by sin. In the queue of sinners teaches us the true way to conjugate the verb of solidarity love.

We have to reverse history, to build from a shared hope. “Solidarity is to approach the problems, anxieties and joys of others, give encouragement, guidance, hope and a word of conversion. is to engage in the defense of the poor. It is to build a kingdom of God that is solid, intimate, holy, within a community “(Monsignor Romero).

Solidarity is being next to someone, walking with each other, fighting with each other, working together. Solidarity is a reciprocal practice, it is from person to person, from community to community, between peoples.

Solidarity is a concretion of the Christian obligation of mutual service, bent on collecting the inheritance of Jesus towards the creation of conditions of equality, of freedom and justice among the men of this world. It is not charity or simply help, but a mutual giving and receiving.

Solidarity expresses the same identity of God. Si God is Love, if God loved us first, if God loves us, “We must love each other as he loved us.” Therefore, God’s faithfulness to man and his moan guarantees the ultimate triumph of Hope: “He will never forget the poor, nor the hope of the humble shall fail.” (Sal 9, 19)

Today, solidarity is the dynamic expression of Christian life, a permanent request by our faith, a force that revitalizes all life and pastoral action. Solidarity is like the new name of faith: it is to be solidary and not only to make solidarity, assuming constantly among all the great causes of the mankind. It is a matter of living a solidarity not only of gestures, but also of attitudes, kneaded of compassion, of respect, of love, of mercy, of donation, of resignation, of communion and of pursuit of common good.

Solidarity today is social justice and goodness of heart. Solidarity is giving, but above all give oneself. Christian solidarity is nourished by the generosity of Jesus, in communion with his heart. The Lord, being rich, became poor for us to enrich ourselves.

We are called to create the culture of solidarity. The proposal to our society is to rebuild it on foundations a little more human, true and fair, listening always what the father’s favorite son says. “The entire activity of the Church is an expression of a love that seeks the integral good of the human being (…) and seeks to promote man in the various arenas of life and human activity.” (Deus Caritas Est, 19)
