“I have called you by name” (Is 43, 1). The first reason not to fear is the fact that God has called us by name.  The angel, God’s messenger, called Mary by name. To God belongs the power to give names.  In the work of creation, he calls into existence every creature by name (World Youth Day, n. 2).

What happens in today’s gospel also occurs in the faith itinerary of the believers of our day: the Believing friend or family, the priest, the Gospel reading, the devotion to Mary, some church activity; They become stars that enlighten us at a certain moment and lead us to meet with Jesus. Then our personal decision will be given to the grace that God offers us.

When this decision is assumed from freedom and love, it liberates us, commits ourselves to a task of transformation in the world.

Faith is the light we recognize God for. It’s a star that takes us to Christ. It is a gift from God, not a property of ours; It is Enlightenment, not slavery, no burden but a source of freedom and full life.

The light of faith is something that can and should be shared. Just as we need the testimony of others, who become star in the itinerary of our walk, we are also called to “bear witness to the light.” The testimony of a good life, of a living faith, is made much more effective than a torrent of words. That is the message of the star of the epiphany.

As Church we have the mission to be Christ’s “epiphany” in this world. As a community and each of us can be epiphany, by our words and works we are signs of communion, peace, justice and liberation.

We are light and epiphany when individually and in groups, we guide, open and mark new paths, in the realization of a world according to the will of God, which takes into account everyone. We are epiphany when driven by the spirit, we have the bravery and the unusual courage to encourage us to the good to the right, in the midst of a world that lives giving up. We are epiphany and prophets of light that guide the steps of the people, when we are able to put our lives at the service of humanity.

We are epiphany when we defend the right of the weakest, even if we are not counted among them. We are epiphany in life when infuse trust and hope, and we can say that we have enlightened when we pay attention, we look at others and accept them as they are; When we hear with depth and truth, not to answer or give prefabricated solutions; When we love and identify with others; When we treat others as people and not as instruments to be used. We are the epiphany of God when we recognize him by simple, faithful and contagious worship.

We are epiphany when we stand and do not lower our arms before the proofs, the purifications, the darkness, the difficulties; And even sins. There is testimony of light when in the encounter with the Lord we let ourselves be enlightened and transfigured.
