IFCA HAS A NEW COORDINATOR He is Rafael Ángel Corso, National President of CA Argentina
The new coordinator of the International Forum of Catholic Action is Rafael Corso. This decision has been taken by the 5 members of the Secretariat, IFCA’s administrative organ, which met in Rome in the last few days.
Corso, a 55 year old mechanical engineer, married with 3 children, is the President of CA Argentina just like his predecessor, Emilio Inzaurraga who was IFCA’s coordinator from 2010 to 2017.
“Catholic Action’s objective – Corso affirms – is to be at the service of the everyday pastoral work of every diocese or particular church by working in the parishes and in all social and everyday spheres. Our most important commitment is to help each person feel that he is a gift of God, created out of love, and not by chance. And it is ‘the good news’ which we wish to convey not only to those who are part of our CA family, but to everyone and everywhere. It is only by feeling loved that people can give their best in their families, in their work and in their communities and thus we we will succeed in building a more just and peaceful world. Catholic Action is “Mission, with everyone and for everyone”.
During their meeting in Rome, the Secretariat members – at present CA leaders from Argentina, Burundi, Italy, Senegal and Spain – accompanied by IFCA’s ecclesiastical assistant, Msgr. Eduardo Garcia, Bishop of San Justo and National Assistant of Catholic Action Argentina, had the opportunity to meet Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri, General Secretary of the Bishops’ Synod, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life and Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of the Holy See, who all had words of encouragement for the work which CA is carrying out and will carry out.
The Secretariat has in fact, defined the operating goals for the four-year period 2017-2021, which will be developed through meetings at continental level aimed also at preparations for the meetings which will be held before the Synod on Youth in 2018,that on the Amazonia in 2019, and also for World Youth Day which will be held in Panama also in 2019.
“Our journey during these last years – the new coordinator affirmed – has seen IFCA growing and today it embraces 34 Member Countries and 37 Observer Countries from 4 continents. Now we need to strengthen our work at continental level through action teams which work at local level in close cooperation with the Secretariat to promote Catholic Action as a reality”.
