Pre-Synodal Diary: 2 day
The second day of the Pre-Synod was a full immersion in the linguistic groups to reflect on and discuss the last two parts of the schemes which guided these workshops.
During the morning session we discussed the relation between faith, Jesus and young people, the sense of individual vocations, the aids and moments for discernment and the great theme as to the characteristics which one who accompanies others should have: topics which are so profound and great that we were completely overwhelmed by them and could go on discussing them for who knows how many hours.
The afternoon then was dedicated to the last step, that is, the one concerning the educational and pastoral ministry of the Church. Right from the start, all across the way, this topic kept coming up in the first two rounds of the linguistic groups because when one speaks about young people, faith and discernment inevitably he is lead to think about the Church, its structures and its pastoral work.
But apart from the themes discussed, the strength of the discussion came from the variety of the group’s components because the exchange of ideas and experiences between young believers, atheists, Buddhists, each with a life to relate, besides offering a healthy discussion, aroused a great desire for sharing and growth. Everyone became aware of the fact, that each one of us, starting from his smallness, has to live as a protagonist and to do beautiful things for our world.
